my interview withe the Public Defender was going wonderfully...until...
after flattering him with my knowledge of his accomplishments and reiterating the importance of the balance the PD's office brings to our adversarial justice system, i was asked "the hypothetical!"
Hypo: it's the last friday of your summer stint at the PD's office and you're rewarding yourself with a trip to Hawaii. your bags are packed, it's 3pm and you're taking off right after going to county to have one of your clients sign off on some paperwork. oh, you've been working with a death penalty atty all summer.
so you're at county, you see your client, and he decides to tell you the REAL story behind the death of Mr. Jones (lots of detail here). basically, it was an accident, but the weapon he used to kill her is hidden at at day care center. what do you do?
take a stab at it. i did and i think i failed miserably. my multiple answers to come.
i get called on in every class. it's better this way, that way i don't have to fear the rest of my days at school. i got it over with in the beginning. surprisingly enough, i've been prepared every time! feels good. esp in evidence. the professor is not my favorite--i think he was purposely brash so i could dislike him and want to out smart him during class. it worked. i'm always extra prepared for his class and it paid off today!
probably not. only when i'm incredibly inspired. today, my friends, is one of those days. my int'l law prof, when describing one of Cyprus' occupying groups, referred to them as the "turkeys"
i, of course, was the one who laughed the loudest and longest. it was so funny though!
cultural food day at school today! Usually the cultural food fairs are mediocre--for some reason the ethnic law students either don't know how to cook their foods or they don't know good ethnic restaurants/caterers. Not the Armenians though. Boy, let me tell ya, the beef and hummus, ohmigosh! I would've gone for seconds but I didn't have enough money.
Click on the link to find out more about the FTC, Bureau of Consumer Protection. The virtual tour is pretty cool.

I got the FTC internship!!! The Federal Trade Commission has extended me an invitation to be a summer clerk!!! I'm 1 of 6 1L's chosen in the whole US!!! Awesome huh? I just have to finish the semester with a bang--I have to do realllly well.
I'm so excited!!! I'll be working in the Adverstising Practices branch of the FTC's Consumer Protection department. I'll be helping crack down on those shady infomercials selling diet pills (T...) and bracelets with special healing powers (Irma).
I'm so happy.
aaaaah, everyone but me!
